Human beings were born to need both freedom and the sense of security, while nature is too complex and difficult to handle all the time. This permanent dilemma drives us to keep concluding regularity from experience and doubting this act as the same time, which, if we put these action to the extreme, became the foundation of modern science and the philosophy of science.
Photography was used in scientific field as the extension of visual observation, for it is a kind of dimension reduction action and also was given the impression of instantaneity with the development of technology. In my point of view, there is a common characteristic shared by the nature and photos, which is that we actually know nothing except what we’ve seen. That’s why regularity could and should be re-considered and anything concluded out of photo itself should be avoided.
